Vince Sprenkle, PNNL Inventor of the Year

May 2015

Congrats to Vince Sprenkle for being selected PNNL Inventor of the Year for Fiscal Year 2014. Sprenkle is recognized for innovation that has resulted in the creation of intellectual property or the potential to create intellectual property. Sprenkle is being honored for patents and publications associated with his work on battery storage.  This work is part of the Battery and Energy Storage group in the Energy and Environment Directorate. The prestigious award is given to just one inventor each year and usually focuses on achievements over the past fiscal years, but can also factor in career achievements.

Sprenkle joined the lab in 2001 and currently manages the Electrochemical Materials and Systems group. He has more than 14 years of experience in the research and development of energy storage technology and oversees the development of new storage technologies, improved safety and reliability technology, and storage valuation to support the Lab's energy storage research programs for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Storage.

Sprenkle was recognized at the Laboratory Recognition and Rewards Program Banquet on May 15, 2015.
